Tweets about Twitter

From time to time, I like to post tweets about Twitter. Most of the time I tweet about Personal Development, but since I like to help people to get acclimated wherever they are, it's only natural that I would also have some tweets specifically about Twitter.

Most of these Tweets are specifically for those who are new to Twitter, so I start them with the question "New to Twitter?" At the end, I usually include a link to this web site, using a shortened URL. The idea, of course, is that I want to invite people to this web site.

You can pick up a variety of practical tips just by reading through this list of Tweets. You have my permission to repost these. You can use the customary beginning if you choose: RT @JeanieMarshall followed by the tweet.

For Twitter Newbies on Friday

Followfriday (Follow Friday) is a "Twitter happening." Each Friday, many peeps acknowledge and introduce their followers to their other followers. It can get a little hectic. I've tried a variety of ways to participate. If you choose to participate in the Follow Friday experience, be certain to use this designation in your tweet: #followfriday

Often on Friday morning, I post these two tweets about Twitter:

New to Twitter? #followfriday is an opportunity to recommend special followers to your other followers. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? #followfriday can get hectic for a newbie. Relax and let the messages roll. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

For Twitter Newbies Anytime

I offer a variety of suggestions, which many newbies find helpful and more experienced tweeters appreciate and RT (Re-tweet).

New to Twitter? Relax. As in life, you cannot "do it all." Take in what you can in the time you give. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? Try a variety of ways to interact so that not all your tweets are of the same type. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? Consider what you want your own unique voice to be, and then sing and chirp and tweet. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? As in life, some things work better than others. Create the experience you want to live. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? Remember to listen as well as tweet. Multiple ways to engage are built into the system. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? You can private message an individual in the update box by typing d username message http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? It's your choice, but I think you'll have much more fun if you interact with others. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? This is the best time to get into the habit of backing up. I use http://tweetake.com every week.

New to Twitter? If you want others to re-post your Tweet (RT), make your Tweet about 120 characters. http://snipurl.com/jtwit

New to Twitter? A hash tag (#) followed by characters is a shortcut way to identify a theme. Some common ones are at http://tagdef.com

Other Thoughts about Twitter

I do find it's natural to apply my philosophies of life to Twitter. After all, Twitter is life or a microcosm of life. It's a worldwide community with ever-changing circles of friends and followers. So, I sometimes write tweets about Twitter as a community.

The first two tweets I often post one right after the other. Sometimes I just post one. The third and fourth tweets (and many other similar ones) are inspired when I notice that people are complaining or criticizing or struggling. I don't direct these at anyone in particular.

Life is filled with variety. The key is to choose what you like and not criticize the rest.

"Excellence is everywhere. If you're looking for it, you'll find it." ~ Jeanie Marshall #quote

I've found it's better not to argue with people who are arguing for their limitations because they just argue harder.

Keep The Tweets You Want to Repeat

If you think you might want to repeat a tweet, be certain to keep track of it. Caution: don't keep repeating the same tweet too frequently, as many will interpret that as spam, even if you're not selling something. You'll have your own way to keep track. I now use Google Docs because in the course of a day, I'm regularly on three different computers.

You can follow my Twitter updates at http://twitter.com/JeanieMarshall Just remember, if you're not really ready to tweet, I'll probably not follow you back. I suggest that you follow some of my recommendations, and in particular that you have a photo and an interesting Twitter stream.

If you want to have interesting people follow you, be interesting.
