Web HostingI've had at least one web site since 1993, and a range of hosting services. Too many. Not enough to make me a real expert, but enough to gain some valuable expertise. And certainly enough to make some recommendations based in a general way on what I expect your needs to be as a professional coach or consultant. Most people have a favorite web hosting service; more people have a list of difficult experiences.
If you're a professional (and I presume you are or you wouldn't be at this web site), you want to pay for web host services. Forget free services; they won't do your image any good. There are lots of people looking for free or cheap hosting, which is a great way to get started and great for showing the family album or your pet cat. The URL tells it all! If you want a web site for a business, you want your own domain, which means you need a legitimate place to host it, which means you need to pay. All things considered, web hosting services are extremely cost effective. Even more cost effective when you think in terms of renting an office space with furniture and staff. Most of the best services that provide web hosting have different levels of agreements. These agreements may be based on number of domains, bandwidth, megabytes, or additional services like ecommerce or different web design languages. Do your own research. Compile a list of questions. It doesn't even matter if you fully understand the questions or the answers, but you do want to know how a potential web host responds when you inquire. If sales people won't answer your questions before you pay your money, it's unlikely that support people will be responsive after you've paid your money. Check the article, Four Questions To Ask When Shopping For Web Hosting by Mitch Keeler to get started on making a list of questions. SiteSell — Simply the BestI've used several traditional web hosts that I feel good about, and mention one below. If you want a traditional host, you cannot go wrong with the one I recommend. However, I have just begun a new process that far exceeds traditional web hosts. Even calling it a "web host" seems strange. It exemplifies all the principles of effective content development, identification and study of your niche, and proper approaches to generate income. And it provides the tools to do all that you need to do. It is SiteSell, which has a fine reputation for assisting its members to develop sites that contribute to the Internet and generate income. I'm extremely pleased and impressed with the services and support in constructing a new web site. I'll keep you posted, and soon will be able to show you my own new Site Build it web site. Please don't wait for me to show you my SiteSell site, though. If you're ready now to start a web site that generates revenue for you, check it out. Even if you think you might like to have easier web hosting and multiple streams of income, check it out. You owe it to yourself. The annual fee is an all-inclusive fee providing services that are usually found in multiple service providers. Please read more about my experiences with Site Build It! with SiteSell. Traditional Web Host Service I RecommendRight now, I am holding off on making any recommendation of a traditional web host. I am doing some research to make a move to a more dependable service. In the meantime, search the Internet. There are many different elements to consider. Consider first, uptime. What is the guaranteed online time for the web host? Ask questions, even if you don;t fully understand the answers. How are you treated by the sales department? While some disgruntled customers may have isolated situations they complain about openly, look for trends in customer comments. Many web sites rate various web hosts — evaluate the web site as well as the web hosts they list. |
